Harwich Port Library
Event is Free and All Are Welcome!

Books on Bank St is back for Summer 2025! First up: On Monday, June 23rd at 5:30 PM, we are delighted to welcome celebrated Cape Cod author, Jim Coogan, who has spent a lifetime collecting stories about this special place. Join us for an evening of Cape Cod stories, myths exploded and truths affirmed. And learn about the writing process and the research involved in writing about Cape Cod history. Light refreshments will be served, and a book signing and meet & greet will follow the talk. This event is free and all are welcome!
Fun fact: Jim Coogan is the author of thirteen books, five of them for children. His book Sail Away Ladies: Stories of Cape Cod Women in the Age of Sail won the 2005 United States Maritime Literature Award. And for almost two decades, he was a regular columnist for The Cape Cod Times daily newspaper. He currently writes a bi-monthly column for The Sandwich Enterprise weekly paper, and lives in the Cape's oldest town.
Our theme this year--in honor of our 100 years of history in Harwich Port--is Cape Cod History. Libraries are widely considered keepers (and sharers!) of stories. And so in the year we celebrate our own story here at the Harwich Port Library, we also encourage people to remember people and places from days of yore, and expand our imaginings of the past.
